So this past weekend, I threw my sister, Mary, a baby shower at the house. I had been preparing and coming up with ideas for about two months. So, when the day finally came, I was ready! And when I say that I had come up with ideas, what I really meant was that I stalked Pinterest and Etsy like a madwoman. But none the less, I was ready to throw the baby shower of her dreams! |
This table is right by the front door and all the presents were place around it. Each "VIP" got a name tag for the afternoon ("Mommy", "Nana", "Grammy", and all three "Aunts"). These were purchased from Etsy and were so reasonably priced. You can order custom made name tags from Danielle on her facebook page using the link here.
This is probably my some of my favorite pieces from the shower. I saw the chalkboard print on Pinterest and I found the website that it originally came from. I used this site to get ideas from things that they used for their shower. Their blog posting can be found here. The page to purchase a copy of the chalkboard print in different sizes or a pdf can be found here.
Oh. These sweet little lamb pillows. I have such love and hatred at the same time for these little guys. Yes, they are so cute. Yes, they made the room look so great and pulled the theme for the party together so well. Yes, my sister will get to use them in her nursery for decor and hopefully they will be cherished by my nephew for years to come (probably not though... he is a boy after all). So many positive things. Yet, no. The time and concentration that went into making these was crazy! I, again, found this idea on Pinterest and thought "OMG these are perfect. I have to make them." But I do not think I considered the effort and time it would take! (it would not have been possible without my moms help and sewing machine skills) I am glad I made them and so glad that they turned out the way they did, but a fair warning to anyone reading this and thinking you want to make them too... Good Luck! :) Here is the link to the website with directions and the original pattern, however, I modified the pattern and kinda went rogue with it to make it how I envisioned. All in all, great idea. Just remember that you are going to put some time into making them.
That sweet, chunky, little baby in the photo is my sister. My mom brought it over for me to use with the decorations. The lamb stuffed animal thing next to the photo is my sister's childhood comfort, Lamb Chop. When you pull his head away from his feet, music plays. I decided to use this in my decorations because I knew that it would mean something to my sister. Others there may not have loved the dirty, old thing up there, but, I knew for her, it would mean the world. The lamp was a creation of my moms. She loved the idea for the lamb pillows I did and decided to make a scaled down version of my pattern and put them on a matching lamp for the nursery. The banner was purchased from Etsy and was custom made so perfectly. The link to her shop is here. (Request a custom order and she will work with you to make the perfect banner for any occasion. Thanks Susan.) The picture to the right is the full view of the classic lawyers shelf I have in my living room. (Please excuse the random chairs, seating was a priority.) |
Food table. Personally my favorite part of baby showers (well, any shower in general). This was taken before all of the food was put out and sadly, I do not have another picture with the entire spread of food we had. Oh well!
PRESENTS! She got a ton of great things! So blessed by so many people!
The favors for the shower were homemade soap bars (made by yours truly). I was a little bit nervous about giving out my soap to family and friends and hope that everyone enjoys them. (If you got one from the shower, please give me feed back! I want honest opinions!) There were four different bars to choose from: Almond, Lavender Coconut, Lemon, and Tea Tree Oil. They were wrapped in homemade origami boxes and had the saying "From Mary's Shower To Your Baaaaath".
Last but definitely not least. We may of had a 4-day old baby boy lamb make an appearance at her "Mary had a little lamb" themed baby shower. So sweet!
All in all. It was a great shower. So many friends and family came out to celebrate Mary and her sweet little Baby Champion. I am so blessed to have such a great sister and one that deserves to be honored! I am already smitten with the child in her belly and I can not wait to be the best aunt to him! :)
Baby C, Aunt Rachel loves you to pieces and I can not wait until you arrive! Hurry up May! :)
